Check out my take home pack for Easter.

During the month of April, my biggest unit is the Rain Forest. This
unit takes almost the whole month of April. Then in May, we talk about
the ocean. Two huge units to complete the year. The kids really enjoy
both of the units greatly.I start the unit after St. Patrick's day. In my
district we have spring break in March so when we come back from that,
we start talking about spring related topics. They are: bunnies, eggs,
gradens/planting, Easter, jelly beans, and flowers. I haven't done some of
these yet,so when we do, I will be adding pictures. Here are some ideas
to use. I hope that you can share some ideas in your own classroom. :)

Art

Using an egg shape, marble paint
Recipes
art/math "Let's Draw a Bunny"
Sometime ago, a teacher shared this awesome drawing/math activity
You give them the outline of the head and body, leaving off the
whiskers, tail, mouth, ears, eyes, and nose. I put mine on a
file folder and drew a simple game board. The kids use the sheet
and a die. They roll the die and move their token to the space and
draw that part. Continue this way until the bunny is done

Math Ideas

Take and Pick- I have a container filled
several hundred erasers for spring. I made some cards that say,
Give or Take and a number.

Kite Capers (S. Kerr)
(Sue Kerr's contact kerrific@charter.net)
Spring Match Game (Spring & Summer Activities TCM-027)
They have 30 rectangles 1/2 of a picture. There are 15 total pictures.
I copied mine onto cardstock and colored the pictures. The kids then
match the pictures and add up the numbers on them. Then write the answer.
on the data sheet.

Flower Shop
Gummy Worm senses
Seed Measuring- programmed sheet
New Nests for All (Great Glyphs Around they Year)
Using real or paper baskets and erasers
label each with a number. Have kids place that number
of erasers on each basket
Using die cuts, flowers, vegetables, ect, to
put in order using ordinal numbers
One idea that I saw, was using an egg carton,
or several of them, and those plastic eggs. Have the kids make a
3D graph. Each color set gets its own column. Then the kids
sort the eggs, and color in a graph.
Cube roll- program a cube with small icons
and have kids roll and shade in that column on graph. I get lots of
small icons from my Quick Snips book from Carson Dellosa
Using egg shapes, program one with dots/stickers
one with the numeral, and one with the word.
Using theme stamps, have kids stamp
chosen patterns. I show them some examples and they make their own.
I give them a sheet that says use AB, AAB, AABB, ABC, ECT
I put them on 3 colors of paper. green (easiest) yellow (medium) and
red (hardest) At center time, I have my kids assigned to do a certain
number of each one. For example, my one group, they need to do 3 green,
2 yellow, and 1 red. Then they can work on their own.
Using calendar pieces, make a number sequence
Using a die, a crayon, and a programmed sheet,
have kids roll a die and color in an icon on a sheet.
(Idea adapted from Hubbard's Cupboard)

Poems

Chocolate Easter bunny
In a jelly bean nest,
I'm saving you for very last
Because I love you best.
I'll only take a nibble
From the tip of your ear
And one bite from the other side
So that you won't look queer.
Yum, you're so delicious!
I didn't mean to eat
Your chocolate tail till Tuesday.
Ooops! There go your feet!
I wonder how your back tastes
With all that chocolate hair.
I never thought your tummy
Was only filled with air!
Chocolate Easter bunny
In a jelly bean nest,
I'm saving you for very last
Because I love you best.
Bobbie Katz

Bunnies
Bunnies are brown
Bunnies are white
Bunnies are always
An Easter delight.
Bunnies are cuddly
The large and the small.
But I like chocolate ones
The best of them all.
Also use as a pocket chart

Hop, Hop, Hop
Hop, hop, hop,
Hop my bunny hop,
Hop along my little bunny
You look sweet and very funny
On this Easter day.
Look and see,
Where the eggs may be,
Here is on and here's another,
Here's a lovely one for mother.
Let us look and see,
Where the eggs may be.

Easter
The Easter Bunny's feet
Go hop, hop, hop,
While his big pink ears
Go flop, flop, flop.
He is rushing on his way
To bring our eggs on Easter Day,
With a hop, flop, hop, flop, hop.

Five Brown Eggs
Five brown eggs in a nest of hay,
One yellow chick popped out to play.
Four brown eggs in a nest of hay,
Another yellow chick cheep-cheeped Good day.
Three brown eggs in a nest of hay,
Crack went another one, Hip hooray.
Two brown eggs in a nest of hay,
One more chick pecked his shell away.
One brown egg in a nest of hay,
The last yellow chick popped out to say,
Happy Easter!

Five Baby Bunnies
Five baby bunnies hopping out to play,
Hopping in the forest on happy Easter Day.
The first baby bunny carried his new cane,
He twirled as he came hopping down the lane.
The second baby bunny came to the river's brink.
Tasted the cool water and took a long, long drink.
The fourth baby bunny skipped down the shady lane.
He opened his umbrella just in case of rain.
The fifth baby bunny said, "Look what I see"
Lots and lots of colored eggs hiding near the tree.

Mr. Bunny, Mr. Bunny,
Won't you stop, stop, stop?
"No,"said Mr. Bunny,
I must hop, hop, hop.
Easter is coming, and there is lots to do.
Eggs must be colored green, pink, and blue.
I'll tie each basked with a pretty bow.
Children are waiting so I must go!"

Egg Hunt
(to the tune of "Clementine")
Easter morning, Easter morning, Easter morning dawning fine
Have to find the Easter eggs now, I've already picked up nine.
Fill the basket, fill the basket, fill the basket every time
Candy eggs and jelly beans are tucked behind each growing pine.
Bend and scramble, bend and scramble, bend and scramble, reach and climb.
Find each hidden Easter treat now, pick them up and they'll be mine.
See them glow and see them glisten, see them glow and see them shine.
Join me with my Easter candy and together we will dine.

Bright, Shiny Noses
(to the tune of "My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean")
Some rabbits have bright shiny noses
I'm telling you now as a friend
The reason their noses are shiny--
Their powder puff's on the wrong end
Wrong end, wrong end
Their powder puff's on the wrong end
Wrong end, wrong end
Their powder puff's on the wrong end.

BUNNY
(sung to Bingo)
There was a rabbit
who had some eggs
and BUNNY was her name!
B-U-N-N-Y,
B-U-N-N-Y,
B-U-N-N-Y,
and BUNNY was her name!

Science

I saw a sheet with different eggs
that were just the outline of the egg. One idea that I thought of was
to have animal cards so the kids to match which egg they thought
belonged to which egg.
Sort Seeds
Labeling parts of plants, trees
Sorting Animals that lay eggs and those
who don't- Science Through the Alphabet (S. Kerr)
(Contact: kerrific@charter.net)

Seeds and a magnifying glass
Growing Seeds - recording growth
Sequencing growing pictures
Comparing seeds- using different seeds
(whatever you can find) lima, corn, kidney, and sunflower.
Have kids use a counting bear and a balance scale. Have them
guess how many seeds it will take to balance the teddy bear.
Have kids sort pictures of plants onto
a graph which part we eat
(leaves, stems, flowers, roots,fruits, seeds)
Another idea that I got from that same sheet
was to show the measurements and have kids try to find things that
are the same sizes.
I have a book from Scholastic that you can
see through paper eggs to see what is inside.

ABC ideas

Using the cracked egg
die cut, write the upper and lower case letters
Match bunnies with letter on their
tummies, to small pictures. (BryBack)
I found some adorable "fonts"
that I print off on cardstock and lamenate for kids to alphabatize
This is what they look like:

Word Families
program half with letters and other half with rimes (at, on, it, and so on)

Pocket Charts

Bunnies (from above)
