Arachnid (Spider) Cookies

1/2 cup semisweet-chocolate pieces
1/2 cup peanut-butter flavored pieces
16 large marshmallows
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups oat ring cereal
2 cups chow mein noodles
Small red cinnamon candies
Chow mein noodles

In large saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and peanut butter flavored pieces, marshmallows and butter, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Add cereal and noodles; mix gently but thoroughly. Working quickly, drop mixture by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper, shaping to resemble spiders. While spiders are still soft, press two candies on top for eyes and additional noodles around edges for legs.
Last year in my grade 2 class, we made a recipe book of favourite recipes. The kids brought the recipes in, a parent typed them, and I ran off the ingredients list. The kids printed the method as their printing time, while we made the recipes. The students looked forward to Day 2 baking, and at the end of the year, they had a remembrance to take home. (Some gave them to Dad for Father's Day)
