Jelly Bean Day is on April 22nd so we haven't done all of these things
yet. When we do them, I will be posting the pictures.

Art

Using a jelly bean shape, watered down
tempra paint, a spoon,a box, and jelly beans. Have kids drop jelly beans
on their paper and roll around. (Same idea as with marbles)

Math Ideas

Using a jelly bean stamp, have kids
create math problems
Graph the colors in individual bags of jelly beans
Estimate the number of jelly beans in a jar
Glue jelly beans to a ruler/yard stick/tongue depressor
and have kids measure things around the room.
Using the jelly bean eggs again, program
half to say the numeral and the other the word or dots.
Roll a die and take a jelly bean
Roll a die and stamp a jelly bean stamp
in a hundreds grid.
Have an outline of a jelly bean. Using the
programed sheet, have them cover the jelly bean with different items
from our room. We used, unifix cubes, buttons, real jeally beans, frogs,
jewels(from the Dollar Tree) and their choice. I have tons of erasers
from Oriental Trading available for them to use.

I'm making Jelly Bean stew
And this is what I'll add
Every color of jelly beans
All the kinds I've had

We'll put in a pinch of magic
One rainbow, finely diced
And to add to the mixture
A little sugar and spice

Then to give it the right taste
We'll add a child's dream
Add some imagination
Now to let it steam

Games/Activities

Carrot at Kids Domain
I bought some large conversation hearts
from Oriental Trading. Have kids pick
a heart and read it. Some kids I have write it in a sentence.
Fine motor: using a spoon, have kids try to pick up one bean
and place it somewhere else. Then use a tweezers to repeat the
same activity.(Adapted from an idea from Libby)

Science

Using objects from the room, have kids use
real jelly beans to weigh things.I have the objects in a small bin
the students fill out the data sheet.

ABC ideas

I found some jelly bean "eggs" at BigLots! Program half of the
bean egg with the upper case and the other half with lower case.
Different sized jelly bean cut outs
with the abc's written on them. By this time, I use at least three different
shapes for them to pattern.

Bulletin Board Ideas

Make a graph out of your board
after you have had a taste test, ask kids which they liked the best.
Give them that color jelly bean cut out. Have them write their name
on it and correctly place it on the graph.
