Math:
Have the children sort by color, shape, size, number of holes, and type.
I created a sheet for my students that have objects in our room for them to
measure. Ex. How many buttons long is a desk.
Graph the number of buttons that the kids have on or
the color they are or the number of holes
Estimate how many buttons are in the box and then count them.
Create a pattern of buttons
Have them survey 5 people and count the number of buttons they are wearing.
Have a pile of buttons. Have children roll a die and take that many buttons
For older kids, use two dice and have them add the numbers and take that many.

Art Projects
Button Collage
construction paper and tacky glue and let them make button collages.
Button Flowers
Supply the children with buttons, green construction paper and tacky glue.
Let them glue a few buttons on their paper. Have the children turn the
buttons into flowers by drawing stems and leaves on the buttons.
Button Bouquet
using buttons and pipe cleaners= lace pipe cleaners through holes bind at
the bottom.
Glue some buttons onto card stock with tackey glue. After the glue has dried,
have the children place this paper under their paper and rub over it with a crayon.

Centers
Using buttons, have the students create the letters of the
alphabet and have them try to trace over them.
Pocket chart from Hubbard's Cupboard

Science
Taking the same type buttons, have students use a scale to weigh items
around the classroom.

Writing
Give your studetns one button, and ask them to describe it
Using button stamps, have them write a book.
Then as a group, see if your kids can guess which button
that student wrote about.

Games to Play
Have a student close their eyes and have another student hold a button in
their hands in front of them. When the other student opens their eyes, they try
to guess who has the button.
Set several buttons in the center of the table and have someone be "IT"
they cover their eyes, and someone takes a button or buttons, and the
"IT" person tries to guess which one was taken.
Snap, Snap Button!!!
Played like "Duck, Duck, Goose" except the children will go around the circle,
and say "snap" instead of "duck" and "button" instead of "goose."
