I attended a workshop presented by Bridget Dwyer with the first grade teacher at my school. While I was there, I was suprised to see the teacher that I had when I was in sixth grade. What a treat!
Here is a picture of Bridget and I.

Here are some classbooks the her kids made. She told us that one of her students came up with this great idea. A skull is a house for a brain! WOW! What a great idea.

Kids fill in a part of the page and she binds it together.

Some great charts that she uses in her room. I can't wait to make them for next year.

Here are some other books that she makes in her classroom.

Here are some other books that she made. Those will go great with some new items that I got at Lakeshore. Peanut Butter and Jelly pieces.

Bridget said that every child gets to create a page and her helper for the day gets to illustrate the cover.

She has a ton of Clifford items. Such as stamps, stickers, books, puzzles. Ideas are endless.

Some great art ideas. The sunflowers are patterned after Van Gogh. Here the kids used there hand to create the plants. The art on the table, were used after talking about secondary colors.
Some ideas for using die cuts.

Here is a wall story that some students created. It begins with one and goes to 10. They have a number, a color, and something spooky!

Here is a great graph for St. Patricks Day. We tried this. Our results were a little different then I had thought. Green is Keen board on the left. She has pictures of celery, pepper, broccoli, and a cucumber. The other on is a graph on pumpkin bread.

Here is a great idea for a halloween classbook. What will you be for Halloween? I can't wait to try it! Halloween here we come!!!

When Bridget went to a new school she had no idea what was going to happen. She got her weekly updates and on there it said something about a Black History Museum. That was Monday. Later in the week, she finnaly asked someone about the field trip to the museum. Much to her suprise, the museum that they were going to see was just in her school. Better yet, in all of the classrooms!!!! YIKES! So they quick wrote this wall story about Harriet Tubman. One young scholars said that this Underground railroad train didn't have any wheels. That is the last thing on Bridget's mind. So this young man did some great work and made all of the wheels. It turned out to be a wonderful piece of work. Highly praised!! Way to go!

Here is another tagboard graph. We tried this too in March. Great fun when food is involved.I it entitled "How Do You Like Your Spuds? Her choices were mashed, baked, chips, and french fires. Now my task will be to find some blackline pictures for them!

Bridget has a class store in her room.

Here is another great art project. This has teacher directed directions. Mine didn't look anything like those. Nothing I do ever looks like someone elses!

A super way to talk about seasons.

She made this large shirt on tagboad. The smaller ones were made with a special die. What a great idea.

The first grade teacher and I have been busy making these as soon as we got home from the workshop. These are small manilla envelopes with dies, stickers, special notepaper, tons of ideas. Then laminated. Then attach a vel-cro dot to the back. Instant center!! Insert word cards that deal with the subject. Kids can alphabetize them. In my case, I store all of my word back words that the kids made for the next year.

Some awesome writing frame ideas!

We didn't talk about these, but Bridget was kind enough to let me take a picture of them. Perhaps you could brain storm words for writing.
Here is the email address that I have for Bridget
