is for Alphabet
We will learn letters and sounds this year.
B
is for Book Club
Periodically we will be giving you the opportunity to order books through several different book clubs. Please understand that at no time are you obligated to purchase books.
C
is for Computer
The children will have many opportunities to experience the computer this year. The students will have daily computer time in the classroom.
C
is for Celebrate Me Week. Your child will have a chance to be our Very Important Person sometime this year. A note will come home with details before your child’s week begins.
D
is for Dismissal
Kindergarten dismissal is at 3:05 p.m. If your child rides the bus or walks home, they will exit on the 5th street door. If you are picking up your child, they will be able to go out that door also.
E
is for Extras
During the school year, I will put notes at the bottom of our weekly newsletter about “extras” that our class could use. If you can contribute any of these items, I will be very grateful!

is for Family Involvement
Kindergarten is a joyful time that your child will want to share with the entire family. We will have different activities throughout the year , which we hope parents, grandparents, and others will share with us. I will give plenty of notice about special programs so that you can make arrangements to attend

is for Gym Class
I will let you know the schedule for going to the gym.
H
is for Homework
Occasionally, your child may have a job to do at home that needs to be returned to school. Your child will always know. Usually, homework will consist of bringing in a particular item for a project and will be mentioned in the newsletter.
I
is for Illness
If your child is ill (fever, vomiting in the past 24 hours, bad cough, etc.), please keep him or her at home. Just call the office at 894-3533 to report the absence.

is for Jobs
We will be encouraging your child to take on more responsibility this year by assigning each student a job in the classroom.
K
is for Kindergarten Conferences
Kindergarten conferences will be held on. It is very important that I be able to meet with each parent to discuss progress. Look for more information to come.
L
is for Library
The children will have the opportunity to check out books in the school library. The children will be encouraged to use the library frequently and to bring their books home to read. We will also have a classroom library that they will be able to frequent.

is for Munching
There will be a monthly snack list sent home. Please send a healthy snack with your child to feed the class. I have many recipes to share.

is also for Music
I believe that music is important in the classroom. We will be learning many new songs to go along with our units.We will also have music with the music teacher.

is for Newsletter
Your child will bring home a weekly newsletter to keep you posted on the week’s activities, upcoming events, and other important information.This will also be listed on this website.

is for Organization
The Home and School Association is a very important part of Ss Peter and Paul Elementary. Please support the tremendous work that they do by becoming a member.
P
is for Protection
For your child’s safety, I will never release him or her to a person I do not know without a note from you. If someone different is picking your child up, please let me know. If something unexpected comes up, just call the office and have them let me know. If I am at all unsure, I will keep your child in the office until I hear from you.

is for Reading
Your child will learn to read many things this year. An important part of learning to read is being read to. Please make sure to read to your child each day. We will begin “Book It” (a Pizza Hut reading incentive program) soon. Details will follow.

is for Show and Tell
We will begin show and tell soon. He or she may bring in one item to share with the class that coincides with the letter or theme we are working on. We will have show and tell the last day of the week.

is for Teamwork
Educating a child is only accomplished by parent and teacher team work. By working together, we can give your child the best possible start in school. Open communication is the key. Be sure to keep me posted on any changes or happenings in your child’s life that could be affecting schoolwork or behavior.




U
is for Unusual Weather
Fog and snow days will sometimes delay or cancel school. Usually, a 2 hour delay will be called first. For school closing information, listen to WHBL, WAPL, WOMT, WOFM, WCUB, WKTT, and WIXX radio stations. Television channels WBAY-2, WFRV-5, FOX-11 and WGBA-26 also has closing information.
V
is for Volunteering
I depend upon parent volunteers in my classroom. Can you find time to help in our room? Could you come in occasionally to assist with special projects or room parties? Would you be able to color, cut, and construct games and activities at home? Do you have a special skill or talent that you could share? Any help that you can give will enrich the quality of learning for your child.
W
is for whole body
A whole body classroom is organized around themes. All instruction-phonics, math, writing, language, science, and social studies are taught in relationship to that particular theme. Children are surrounded with literature and words. Whole body is a natural and exciting method of teaching children.
